What our
volunteers are saying
“I believe that women who have experienced trauma deserve the right to be heard and welcomed. And this volunteering offers the therapeutic listening structure they deserve.”
Patrícia, a volunteer psychologist from Três Corações (MG)
“The word welcome motivates me! I can't be there to help, I can't with my own hands stop the pain, the violence, but I can, with warmth, empathy and love, help them to see themselves as women, owners of themselves, and break out of the cycle of violence.”
Bruna, a volunteer lawyer from São Paulo (SP)
“I was a victim of sexual violence and during the reporting process I had the opportunity to talk to many victims of domestic violence. As well as feeling the kind of treatment we receive when we go to the authorities and the courts, (...) we are humiliated and forced to revisit the trauma countless times. I realized that psychological support was essential for me to continue with my complaint and that it was necessary to offer it to those who can't afford it.”
Yasmin, volunteer psychologist from Manaus (AM)
“My first case as a lawyer was with Mapa. I have learned and am learning so much from what I experience that I feel endless motivation to continue. Knowing how unprepared society is to welcome these women also motivates me to continue specializing and, whenever possible, to expand my network!”
Bruna, a volunteer lawyer from Santos (SP)

Frequently asked questions
How long do the services last?
The duration of the service will depend on the needs of the woman being assisted. Volunteers, both psychologists and lawyers, must be able to provide short, medium or long-term services.
Can the service be remote?
Yes, the type of service must be agreed directly between the volunteer and the survivor who will receive the service, in a way that works for both of them.
Can university students volunteer?
No. We only register trained professionals who are registered with their respective professional regulatory bodies, as we need the backing of these councils.
Is there support for the services?
Yes, the Mapa do Acolhimento team is multidisciplinary and offers all the necessary support via email and WhatsApp. In addition, we provide exclusive training that contains all the details of volunteering and relevant topics for welcoming women in situations of violence. We also offer spaces to discuss cases with the participation of our team and other volunteers from our network.
