Is the course mandatory?

Yes, in order to become a volunteer for Mapa do Acolhimento, you need to complete the training. In addition to the content on gender-based violence, the training also contains all the information on how our volunteer program works.

How many hours does the course take?

The complete course is 30 hours long, including texts, video lessons and exercises.

I'm already an experienced professional in dealing with women in situations of violence. Do I still need to take the training?

Yes, because it's during the course that you'll get to know our proposed approach and learn more about the guidelines for volunteering with Mapa do Acolhimento.

I've never assisted women in situations of violence. Will this course be enough?

Yes. The training is an introductory course that will give you a solid basis for starting your work, as you will have access to concepts that are essential for your work, as well as good care practices. It's important to note that we also offer other spaces for continuous learning, case discussions, sharing experiences with other volunteers and the support of Mapa do Acolhimento's team of specialists. You won't be alone!
